All aircraft require a Steering Bypass system of some type. On the Airbus A319, A320, A321 and A340 this is achieved using a Steering Bypass pin. This is inserted into the steering bypass mechanism on the nose wheel of the aircraft to enable the ground crew to have full control of the aircraft during aircraft pushbacks and movements.
