The B-17 Flying Fortress was a four-engine propeller-driven heavy bomber that Boeing developed for the U.S. Army Air Corps just before World War II. The B-17's ability to sustain significant battle damage and still bring its crew home safely gave it legendary status during the war. Four different B-17 Flying Fortresses went by the name Liberty Belle; the third, tail number 42-97849, made an emergency landing in Belgium after being damaged in a bombing run. This highly detailed 1:155-scale diecast metal model of Liberty Belle 42-97849 comes prebuilt and features accurate markings. Plastic stand is included. Recommended for ages 14 and up. Model measures about 14.60 cm L with 20.30 cm wingspan. Weighs 385 g. Imported.
